Pool builders Tarragindi, Brisbane

Tarragindi was originally known as the Sandy Creek. It is a suburb that is located 6 km south of central Brisbane. This suburb is held under the Federal Division; Griffith and Moreton.

Derived from the 2011 census, Tarragindi is home to almost 10,000 people with the median age of 37 years. A statistic says that only 88.1% of residents in the suburb spoke English at home.

Tarragindi was named after a native from the Loyalty Islands, Tarra Gindi, who was transferred to Queensland in the late 19th century. He escaped and was employed by Alfred Foote of Ipswich. Later on, Tarra Gindi cleared a land for William Grimes on a hill near Sandy Creek and the area was named after him. He died at the age of 63. His grave lies in the Ipswich General Cemetery.

The European settlement commenced in the 1850's with a survey of land by George Pratten. Thomas Stephens opened a woolscour and a fellmongery located in the northern part of Tarragindi.

There are two primary schools present in the suburb; Wellers Hill State School and the St. Elizabeth Catholic Primary School. The Wellers is known for its active music program while St. Elizabeth has 3 sporting houses.
The suburb is surrounded by areas Annerley, Greenslopes, Holland Park West, Mount Gravatt, Nathan, Salisbury and Moorooka.
