Algester is an outer suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland. It is situated 11 kilometres southwest of the Brisbane central business district. The suburb is held under the Federal Division of Rankin. It occupies an area of 1.6 sq. m.

According to the 2011 census, the suburb of Algester had a population of more than 8,000 individuals residing in the area. It consisted 48.7% of male and 51.3% of female. Algester's median age was 34 years, 3 years lower than the Australian median of 37. 70.9% of the population was composed of people who used the English language as they communicate at home.

The suburbs name was an alteration of an English town named Alcester. During the 1970s, Algester was named as Ridgewood Heights after the Ridgewood Heights property development. In 1972, it was officially known as Algester.

In 1977, the Algester Primary School was established with a total number of 200 students enrolled.

In July 2007, a huge leak of an oil pipeline happened in Algester, causing its residents to evacuate in safer areas.

Algester's surrounding suburbs are Willawong, Acacia Ridge, Sunnybank Hills, Calamvale, Parkinson, Larapinta and Pallara.
