Stretton is one of the residential suburbs in the City of Brisbane. It is located approximately 17 kilometres south of the Brisbane central business district.

Around 1860s, Governor Bowen announced that the areas from Eight Mile Plains to Stretton would be part of Brisbane Agricultural Reserve. The agricultural reserve was used for timber farming, but later on they found out that the land was good for farming. Settlers started to produce fruits and vegetables, even poultry.

The suburb of Stretton was named after a settler and hotelier from Brown Plains named George Stretton. The name of the suburb was officially announced in 1972.
