Springwood is a north-eastern suburb in Logan City. With an area of 6 km.sq., 9% of it is covered with parks. As of 2016, Springwood had a population of more than 9,000.

In accordance with the 2011 Australian census when Springwood gathered a population of 8,990, the median age of the suburb's population was the same as the national median of the country which is 37. 66.8% was made up of people who were born in Australia and 85.2% were individuals who use the English language as they communicate at home.

Before colonisation occurred, the Aboriginal people from the Yugambeh and Jaggera tribe lived in the area. The suburb got its name from a 614 acre property located along Rochedale Road. It was originally owned by William Underwood. In 1972, the suburb was officially named 'Springwood'.

The first phase of development started in 1968. The construction of the South East Freeway to Brisbane proceeded at a much slower pace than predicted. The final section of the Freeway was finished in 1985.

Springwood is now an established residential suburb comprised with schools, shopping centres, hotels and churches.
