Located 13 kilometres south of the Brisbane central business district is the residential suburb of Robertson, with its borders; Nathan, MacGregor, Sunnybank and Coopers Plains. The suburb is held under the Federal Division of Moreton.

As of 2011 census, Robertson had a population of 4,867 people. Robertson's median age was 32 years, 5 years lower compared to the national median. 34.7% of the Robertson population was made up of individuals born in Australia.

Around 1960s, the suburb of Robertson was the unsubdivided southern part of Sunnybank. Sunnybank Plaza was established in 1975 located at the south-east corner of the suburb.

In July 1967, Robertson was named after the Vice Chancellor of the University of Queensland, Dr. William Robertson. He was also a member of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.

There are educational institutions within the suburb. These include; Robertson State Primary School that provides elementary education. It was established in 1980 with a total of 124 students enrolled. Two weeks after, the Robertson State Preschool Centre was opened with the help of V.J. Bird, the Minister for Education. By 1987, the preschool centre gathered a total of 600 enrollees.
