One of Brisbane's largest suburbs, Mount Gravatt is the name of the suburb that is home to more than 3,000 and the mountain housed inside the territory. The suburb of Mount Gravatt was divided to three; Upper Mount Gravatt, Mount Gravatt, and Mount Gravatt South, but the last one was renamed into Wishart in the 1990s.

The name of the suburb came from the commander of the Moreton Bay Settlement, Lieutenant George Gravatt.
