Located 6.8 miles southeast of the Brisbane Central Business District, and home to more than 8,000 individuals, is the suburb of Mansfield.  It was named after the Queensland governor Sir Alan Mansfield in 1967. This suburb is held under the Federal Division: Bonner.

According to the 2011 Australian Census, Mansfield recorded a population of 8,473 people living in the area. The population consisted 51.8% of female and 48.2% of female. The median age of its population was 38, 1 year higher compared to the national median of 37.

Mansfield is also located in the region of the city which is now known as the 'Bible Belt' due to a large number of people who moved there for them to be involved in Christian schools and churches.

There are four educational institutions in the suburb; Christian Outreach College, Brisbane Adventist College, Mansfield State Primary School that was established in 1970 and Mansfield State High School in 1974.
The suburbs neighbouring areas are Carina Heights, Carindale, Belmont, Mackenzie, Rochedale, Wishart, Upper Mount Gravatt and Mount Gravatt East.
